What is a Prayer Labyrinth?

A labyrinth is simply a physical representation of our faith journey. It is a tool used by many to help them focus on communicating with God. Walking a labyrinth can help us to build a stronger relationship with God through prayer and reflection.

There is no right or wrong way to pray the labyrinth.

As you walk,

Make this an intentional time to focus on prayer.
It may help to begin with deep breathing and mental focus. If there is something that is weighing heavily on your heart, lift it up to God. Give everything to God.
If you have a favorite verse in Scripture, focus on those words. Look down as you walk, many of the bricks along the path have familiar verses.

As you enter,

Move at a natural pace. Pay attention to your body. Speak and listen to God.

At the center,

Take a deep breath and take in the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is with us always. Listen for the breeze in the trees as a reminder of the Spirit’s work in the world.

As you return,

Focus on the joy of God’s creation, and lift that in prayer as well.
Listen for that still small voice and think about how you will take what God is saying into your daily life. Thank God for always being there. Be reminded that we are redeemed and made new by our Savior, Jesus Christ.

When you exit,

Reflect on your experience. You may want to write, draw, or share your thoughts with a friend.

Return as often as you like.  May you find peace.
