Daily Devotions

The Bible is God’s message that brings life to us. When we read the Bible, we are drinking in God’s helpful instructions, God’s encouragement, God’s truth, and above all, God’s promise to save us and make all things new.

This Daily Devotional guide is easy to use at home, and appropriate to use in families, especially with children who can read.

Suspended Until Further Notice

It is with regret and sadness that we no longer will have weekly devotionals to distribute due to Pastor Jay’s retirement.  We hope to resume this very important part of our ministry soon!

April 25 - 30

Since Jesus used the book of Jonah to help describe his journey through death and resurrection, it is traditional to read some of Jonah in the Easter season.

April 18 - 23

Almighty God, you give us the joy of celebrating our Lord’s resurrection. Give us also the joys of life in your service, and bring us at last to the full joy of life eternal, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

April 10 - 16

In the latter part of the prophet Isaiah, we find four extremely important prophecies about how God’s Messiah (Jesus) would have to suffer, in order to accomplish our salvation. These are often called the “servant songs.” We will read all four this week. Keep in mind that before Jesus came, the Jewish people didn’t really understand what these passages were talking about – that’s why people didn’t recognize Jesus as Messiah.

April 4 - 9

This week we will further explore the themes of the sermon Sunday, April 3 on Philippians 3:12. This scene in Jesus’ life is a wonderful illustration of Paul’s teaching in that passage. There we learned that, because Paul experienced how Christ made Paul “his own,” by graciously accepting Paul the sinner, Paul was then motivated to invest the rest of his life in serving Christ. This is how grace works.

March 28 - April 2

This week, we will read several Bible passages which echo some of the themes of Sunday’s parable of the lost son.

March 21 - 26

The sermon Sunday, March 20 focuses on our bad habit of measuring other people, causing us to complain or gossip about them, while feeling falsely righteous about ourselves. The Bible teaches us to fight this bad habit by using the spiritual practice of “examining ourselves.”

March 14 - 19

In Philippians 3:17, Paul asks others to imitate his example. He says something similar in other places (such as 1 Cor. 11:1). Later, he advises Timothy, his young apprentice, to set an example of godly living and faith. This is actually an example of how we mature in the faith. It is very helpful to see examples of people living for the kingdom. We learn by seeing these examples, and we teach by giving a good example.
